The Constitution of the United States

Pocket Edition of the original Constitution of the United States (with Index), and Declaration of Independence.

The National Center for Constitutional Studies has printed a special edition copy of The Constitution of the United States that has been proofed word for word against the original Constitution housed in the Archives in Washington, D.C. It is identical in spelling, capitalization and punctuation.

This 52-page pocket sized booklet contains The Constitution of the United States (including The Bill of Rights and Amendments 11-27) and The Declaration of Independence.

On the front cover there is a picture of George Washington holding a quill in his hand, inviting each of us to pledge our commitment to The Constitution of the United States by maintaining and promoting its standard of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.

  1. As others have noted, this is not merely a pocket Constitution. It includes the insane ramblings of W. Cleon Skousen. He is in no way an expert in Constitutional law or American history. He was an end times Mormon conspiracy crank who merely inserts his personal delusions alongside. This has led to many people who are too lazy to read the Constitution themselves and learn the history, to take his personal beliefs as fact. It has led to a great many people thinking they can take over government property, and even more stupid people supporting them.

  2. This is published by The National Center for Constitutional Studies, a conservative, religious-themed constitutionalist organization, founded by Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) political writer W. Cleon Skousen, a former professor at Brigham Young University.

  3. If they would have only taken the text of the US Constitution and printed it, this would be a great 5-star book. They included the Declaration of Independence, and an index, and that’s fine too.

But then they pick and choose a number of religious quotes and insert them into the introduction and other pages of the book. Why? How ironic is it with the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment that they would do this?

I ordered 72 of these to give to people at a party that celebrates the separation of church and state. Had I known that it was full of quotes from Washington and Daniel Webster (?) about God, I would have found another product.

I’m shipping these back and looking for an alternative that holds to the secular nature of our country.

  4. Worst purchase so far. Gets my first (and hopefully only) review.

#1, Its NOT pocket sized despite being called “pocket constitution”
#2. Its NOT the constitution, but the constitution plus a load of propaganda. Just give me the document our wise forefathers wrote, not a bunch of excess quotes and jargon to convince me they were right.
#3. Spelling errors and grammatical mistakes throughout
#4. At the end is a place to “sign your pledge to the constitution” – Aside from this being complete nonsense, as our rights are inherent regardless of our pledge, they had the gall to put “George Washington, Witness” below where you sign. Like it matters at all to have a witness, and like it is more authoritative with a disrespectful use of Washington’s persona. See what I mean about these people being propagandists rather than simply sharing the constitution? What a waste of money.

  5. The publisher is not forthright with the fact this pamplet promotes the constitutional interpretations of
    W. Cleon Skousen, a fringe-mormon who taught the posse comitatus concept that sheriffs are the highest law in the land.

Followers of this interpretation believe county sheriffs have authority over the Federal government. This pamplet is popular with anti-government extremist groups and is the one carried by Ammon and Ryan Bundy during their armed takeover of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.

Constitutionalist sheriffs who believe they have law authority over the Federal Government also carry this particular pamplet.

This item is printed at the “National Center for Constitutional Studies”, located on a farm in Malta Idaho, population 193 (2013 census).

  6. I was loathe to give the LDS a dollar for this thing, but I wanted to read the bundy bible for myself with all of skousen’s brain droppings in it, and I couldn’t find anywhere to DL and PDF or any drunk or high militia man to steal one from. The most painful dollar I have ever let go of.

EDITED: I have received this booklet now and I have scoured it from cover to cover. THERE IS NO CONTENT OR COMMENT BY SKOUSEN IN IT. Not a word. There are a few presidential quotes that are questionable in how they are presented. But the transcript of the documents are perfectly fine. There has to be some other version printed that has the Skousen content, this one sure doesn’t have it.

It still pained me to give a buck to this org.

  7. The Skousen pamphlet entitled “The Constitution of the United States” with the subtitle “…it’s only keepers, the people. — George Washington” represents a deceptive marketing tool. While it contains the text of the Constitution, it also contains the Declaration of Independence, which has no legal relevance, and many out-of-context quotes from the group known as “Founding Fathers,” a subjective time line and an editorial. The back cover contains an oath well suited as an indoctrination oath for groups.

  8. what a joke – so glad I researched before purchasing here. This is the “Cliven Bundy nut job version” of the Constitution, published by complete wackos with no respect for or knowledge of the actual document – see the other 1-star reviews and purchase elsewhere!
